I worked with Jeanne and Lynn, on behalf of the Astraea Foundation, for just a few short months this past spring and summer. Although she was ill, it was evident immediately to me what a force of nature Jeanne was and how lucky I was to be speaking and emailing with her on a regular basis. It was an honor to get to know her for this brief time.
When people use the word "fierce" to describe someone or something, they throw it around freely -- often too freely. But Jeanne really embodied what it was to live fiercely and freely: to drive her own destiny, actively work to shape the world she wanted us to live in, and invent new pathways when the ones that existed weren't adequate for her needs or those of the community. Although she has passed, her legacy will always be vibrant and compelling.
Healing thoughts, from all of us at Astraea, to Lynn and Jean's close friends.
